The Client
Established in 1919, the Bettys and Taylors Group is home to three iconic Yorkshire brands: Bettys, Yorkshire Tea and Taylors of Harrogate. An independent family business, the firm employs more than 1500 staff and has an estimated revenue of £208m.
The Challenge
Bettys and Taylors needed to set up and configure Microsoft Teams to be able to communicate and exchange documents both internally and externally with clients. The setup of Teams needed to be executed in a governed and structured way, although they did not have the capability within internal resources to do this.
Security and data protection was a main priority for the setup, as they needed to configure Teams in a secure environment where accesses and permissions could be managed and controlled.
The Solution
After understanding their requirements, we securely configured Microsoft Teams, which enabled users to communicate and exchange files in a protected environment. We built a permission model which allowed these files to be exchanged to specific users, both internally and externally.
Through enabling a whitelist service, we were able to set up communication with third party organisations via Teams in a controlled environment with limited access and no external access.
To allow Bettys and Taylors to continue managing the security controls, we then delivered an administrative and user training course for 25 people, to show them how to maintain and control these permission models.
The Results
Successful implementation and training of Microsoft Teams resulted in many benefits for Bettys and Taylors:
- A controlled Teams environment hosting users across the organisation.
- Secure permission models allowing document transfer to third party organisations.
- Training to enable future maintenance and modification of user access and permissions.
