Celebrating National Techies Day

Latest News

October 3rd is National Techies Day and we want to highlight the great achievements of all techies: past, present and future.

What is a techie?

A techie is someone who has expert knowledge in the field of technology, particularly computing. They may have a career in technology, or could just be an enthusiast in all things IT.

What is National Techies Day?

National Techies Day was originally introduced in 1998 to help students become more educated about the technology sector. Interestingly, in the academic year 2016/17, the number of students studying computer science increased by 4% compared to the previous year. This was the highest increase of any subject. This statistic exhibits the rise in young people taking up a career in IT, which will enable them to contribute to the ever-growing technology in future. Nowadays, National Techies Day is mainly to celebrate the works of all techies whether they are students, enthusiasts, or professionals. You can find out more about the history of National Techies Day by clicking here.
